Was just wondering if anybody could recommend a removals specialst to collect from England and deliver to Crete.  We are in contact with the Cretan Flyer and the White Van Man (can't remember his exact title but he advertises through this site).  Any experiences/recommendations would be really appreciated.

Just a thought Xanthe but at the top of this page is an advert for Expatriate Removal Service plus there is removal advice on the main Britsincrete web site.Might be worth a quote.  Ken.

Thanks for the reply Ken, I have read through he general advice on the main BIC site about removals but would feel happier to follow personal recommendation.  I don't know whether I'm going mad being surrounded by a house packed up into boxes but I can't see the advert at the top of the page - do they change?
Xanthe.

Sorry Xanthe, the add does seem to change but if you refresh the page it might return.Just in case you don't spot it it is :  sterlingrelocation.com.

I could not recommend anyone at this time as I am in a similar position to yourself, surrounded by boxes.I have arranged my removals with a local company but as its from Ireland it would be of no benefit to you.

Good luck with the quotes and the move  Smiley Ken.

Hi Xanthe

Several of us on the site have used The White Van Man, Phil Sharp, and been very happy with the service provided. My load was collected from Newcastle and safely delivered to Rethymnon in just over a week, it was consolidated with other jobs to make up the load when it arrived in Kent. No breakages, despite there being some pretty fragile stuff packed. Highly recommended.   Smiley

Xanthe,

I used White Van Man to move my stuff from Aberdeen in Scotland to Kambani on the Akrotiri.  I thought the service was excellent, the people the best and the communication second to none.  The price was also far less than the other quotes given by some of the UK's national carriers.

I would heartily recommend them.

Jon

ps everything arrived and nothing was damaged.

We too have used White Van Man on on three occasions and all has gone well, collection and delivery door-to-door in the stated time-frame with no breakages (in fact, 1 delivery is currently sitting out in our place in Crete waiting for our next visit to unpack!).

Needless to say, we have no business or personal connection with WVM.

Hi Xanthe,

To add to Phil Sharpe's (White Van Man) recommendations, we were very happy with the service, though it was two and a half years ago now - and we're still unpacking some of the 230+ boxes that we shipped!  Grin

(Come to think of it, I was still unpacking tea chests 15 years after my last move in Dorset! What's that old adage - if you haven't unpacked it within six months then you shouldn't have bothered bringing it in the first place?)  Grin

I hope that you have carefully annotated and numbered each box as you have packed - it makes it a helluva a lot easier this end when you come to look for something!  Grin

Regards,

We are also happy to add our recommendation for White Van Man, better than just relying on adverts

Thanks to everybody for the recommendations- The White Van Man sounds great.  I didn't really want just to pick a random advert.

P.S.  Maurice and Jan - 200 plus boxes!!!!  We are only bringing 30ish and I'm starting to go mad surrounded by clutter.  Don't know how you managed it.

Ha ha, Xanthe - the vast proportion of those boxes were full of books (and a few with DVDs, CDs, & tapes). Now you know why we didn't bother bringing furniture!  Tongue

In moving our stuff from Poole to his depot in Hove, Phil got stopped by the cops for being overweight and had to call for another van to offload some of it. Fortunately the cops didn't book him!  Roll Eyes

30+ boxes??? Chicken feed!!!!  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin

Have fun and just think that it will all be worth it in the end!  Cool

Regards,
