I thought the the zone price was supposed to appear on the electicity bill in the calculation of property tax. If you look on page 2 of your electricity bill you will find the heading "ΤΙΜΗ ΖΩΝΗΣ". It appears in the top left with the local taxes. This means price band or price zone. Unfortunately in all my electricity bills there are no figures under this and the adjacent headings!

If anyone has figures filled in for this (recently or in the past) and lives in Kokkino Chorio or, if not Kambia or Plakka, could they say what their price zone is.

Thanks.

Fingers crossed it won't happen! Meanwhile I found a reference to zone charge on the electric bill (see 16b on link) not that the zone charge makes much sense at the moment!

Pretty certain it is as well as. I think the "special tax" is for anybody with property whether it's a holiday home or not. Are you referring to the "imputed income", which is applicable if you live here more than 183 days but not applicable if you are here under that time?

Does anyone know if this is instead of the ridiculous minimum declared income thing last year, or as well as?

More information on the new tax

http://www.protothema.gr/news-in-english/article/?aid=145038

However, it seems that the ΔΕΗ are not at all happy at being used to collect these taxes.

They want reassuring that people who don't pay the tax will not have their electricity cut off.

Thanks for the comments. I was hoping I'd got it wrong but it has even hit the Guardian now! I don't know where the government think people are going to magically get the money from!!!
I hope Crete is at the lower end of the scale.

This will also have an impact on people that rent property too surely, as landlords will be charged this tax and no doubt add it to their rental charges to recoup it?

DEH have the square meterage of every property so it will be easy enough for the Government to work out how much the payment is for each building.
4 euros is just the average, it could be less or much more depending where you live in Greece. wait for the bill in the New year Huh

The amount that we will have to pay will depend on the area that we live in.

By my reckoning "built surface" would suggest a fee relating to the footprint of the property

yes I think you have understood it correctly,
looks like it will be taken in installments included in the DEH bills

Have I understood this right? If for instance you have an 80sq m house you have to pay an extra 320 Euros on top of your "normal" electric bill by Feb? I hope I've got it wrong???
