Here is a link in English. It's worth noting that this bill has'nt actually been voted on yet;
that will happen next week.

Do you have any links (if they are online) for the newspapers who published these tables Paul?

Thanks, Kathleen

I can't find any base values published online, but if you have an E.T.AK. tax form for your property (they were issued in 2010), it's one of the figures on there under "ΤΙΜΗ ΒΑΣΗΣ ΥΠΟΛΟΓΙΣΜΟΥ".

For us (small village a few kilometres south of Rethymno), the base value is Eur 600. From the tables published in all newspapers yesterday, this equates to Eur 4 per square metre for the new tax. As our house is 6 years old, this then has to be uplifted by 20%, giving a final tax payable of Eur 4.80/sq. mtr.

What isn't clear to me from the published statement is if it applies to auxiliary spaces (e.g. basements) as well as the main dwelling.

Paul

I await the window  tax, the fresh air tax and the sky at night tax, the  swines will tax us on anything now.

We need a revolution as there are no more solutions left.

Take a look at the size of the finance minister,  Pilsburry Doh  boy, he isn`t suffering as we are , always the rich get richer and the poor man suffers.

Worst thing  any country did was join the EU, all the countries are in deep financial trouble, in debt and dillusianal.

We will all be living in caves before very long,  I blame the  power the banks  have, they ruined  nations, between the banks and governments  we will all be in  deep  crap.

Todays economy.... there will be  two banks left ,  the blood bank and the sperm bank, and before you know it  we will all become  a nation of  bloody w*****s.

Thanks latsida.
No doubt we will have to "discuss" this with our landlord.
Thinking of doing similar to what the Government is trying to do and just deduct special tax payment from our rent to make sure we don't lose out.

Hi Gem - yes, I was referring to imputed income but this is the first I've heard of it only applying if you live in Greece more than 183 days. We only use our place about six weeks of the year at the moment so it would be fantastic if it didn't apply to us - we had to go through the whole rigmarole last year.

it is the property owner who is liable to pay the tax not the tenant.

Does anyone know who is liable to pay this tax? The property owner or the occupier? We rent, pay the electric, but don't want to have to pay taxes the owner is liable for.
