Hi Admin

Its all sorted now.
DEH carried on taking the money out of my account which is fine.  I have to kinda guess what the amount is to cover it.
When I am there in June I can reset the account and log in online again.
I didnt really do anything on the computer on a whim, I just thought there was a problem with the DEH site which is why i reset the account, unbeknown that I needed a bill to reset it.

@skaletaguy

Just wondering how did you get along with your DEH problem?

Re:Cut off electricity supply to your #Crete residence.

Just to say, while there is a policy about length of time to cut off. DEH does not like to have their stretched staff running all over the place for nothing. After all they need to physically come to your home location to disconnect. They also in their meter reading exercise (once a quarter) the staff readers can and do often chat to neighbours to ascertain what any problem maybe.
That in itself can be helpful. In other words never p*** off the neighbours.

I think what you know and appreciate with #Greece, is that once something is set up, NEVER NEVER change it for whatever reason without knowing the new replacement action works as it did before any change.

So is the lesson to never do something on the computer on a whim?

Treat fairly, those who treat you fairly. To shout is a sign of weakness. Confucious may have said: "Don't be easily hurt or offended. Take a deep breath, count to 10. Log off and make a cup of tea.

I am in the west side and my local DEI office is in Chania.
I have a direct debit setup for DEI and have transferred an estimated amount to cover it.  It usually gets debited in a couple of days time so I'll be watching it to see if it does.
I'll let you know.
Thanks for all your help.

HI Skalegate - I understand what you are saying.  Maybe by removing your address etc. it's confused the system, who knows?  Is there a telephone helpline number that you could ring in Greece to check this out?  Maybe find the number of your local DEI office (not sure whether you are East or West).

I don't know the answer to your question regarding disconnecting you and at what point they will do this but I would hazard a guess that if your bills aren't high and they know you are resident in the UK, so only here for short burst then they may not disconnect you under those circumstances.

Do you have a home in the East of the island?  If so, I would willingly pop in to the DEI office and ask the question for you.  Hope this helps.

I dont think you understand what i am saying.
I used to receive an email from DEI when there was a bill due.
last month I had problems retrieving my bill from the website, so I removed my property with a view of adding it later.
But when i tried to add it, it asks for the payment code which i dont have because its on the bill.
I have emailed them lots of times but no response.
I dont want my electricity disconnected.
I am going back in June next year.
At what point do DEI disconnect you if the bill isnt paid?

As you are a part-timer, you should arrange for someone to collect and pay your bills in case you can't. There are plenty of property management companies that will do this for a small fee, if you have no friends who can do it.

And before you retort - yes, it should be possible to do it another way but this is Greece.

nobody is collecting my bills.
I used to get an email from dei to say a bill is due then i would log in to the dei website and ensure i transfer enough money over to crete to cover the bill, if i am not there.  i have sent dei another email about it, but still no response.  i keep my emails in simple english.  i am back in crete in june, i just hope they wont disconnect me should i be unable to pay my bills.

Who is collecting your bills?
Where is your house?

You can contact DEH from this page:
https://www.dei.gr/en
All they will need is your meter number.

When you contact them, check your English spelling, grammar and punctuation very carefully. Keep your message short and simple. Avoid long sentences, colloquialisms and unnecessary phrases.

From my own experience of trying to read badly-written Greek, I can assure you that you are more likely to receive a useful reply if you follow my advice.

Am not sure if anyone else has had problems with the website, but when i click on my property and I normally get the list of past bills up all it says lately is bill searching.

In my wisdom I assumed there was a problem with the website and removed my property with a view of adding it again, however it asked me for the e-payment code which I have, and it also asks me for an invoice serial number.

Because I dont live in Greece all the time (yet) I dont have access to my bills to get this serial number.

I pay by direct debit which is fine.  My question is because I have removed my address from my account, will i still get the email from dei with the amount and due date?

If I dont get any emails I have no way of paying them and I dont want to get disconnected.  I plan to return in June 2017.

Sorry for the long email.  hope I get some replies lol.

Cheers Grin
